Ottawa Canonist Pete Vere wrote a book called Surprised by Canon Law that outlines the questions and shock people have when they begin to learn what Canon Law is really all about and what it's implications are.

However, after finally becoming aware and ambitious enough to actually READ Canon Law, I found myself a bit more than merely surprised.

I found myself FRIGHTENED BY CANON LAW.

Therefore, I am going to try and document some of the more serious and bizarre sections in Canon Law, and see if I can explain how they apply to Roman Catholics, and non-Catholics alike. The Vatican considers all "Protestant" churches to be part of their traditional system. They call what's left of the Protestant movement "Separated Brethren" and subject to the dictates of Rome.

Most people could care less about stuffy old Canon Law... but the question is, does Canon Law care about, and apply to YOU? Indeed it does, and upon realizing it's implications and the threat it poses to the freedom to each and every one of us... you too may be leery, or downright afraid of Canon Law as I am.

The Inquistions, Holocausts, Witch Burnings and atrocities of history were carried out because they were authorized by LAW... but which Law? What system of law authorizes war, mayhem and mind control but remains relatively unknown to the general public?

Why does the Vatican have 172 Concordat treaties with every country in the world? Why did the persecution of the Jews in Germany begin after Hitler signed a Concordat with the Vatican in 1933?

Yes, once you realize what's REALLY going on, you too may be FRIGHTENED BY CANON LAW.

I was the first person to read Pete Vere's suggested reading list on Amazon.ca, 6 years after he last updated it on Sept 12, 2001.

In my opinion, Canon Law is the layer of law that the Vatican must keep open, but prefers to keep quiet.

THE OFFICIAL CODE OF CANON LAW (without commentary) in English is here:

Canon 1326 is one of my favorites, and Canons 992-997 cover Indulgences. The Indulgences section in the 1917 Code of Canon Law was actually Canon 911. The 1983 code was shortened to 1752 Canons in total, and I believe this is to pay direct homage to the Code of Hammurabi of ancient Babylon. (circa 1750 B.C.) Current Canon Law appears to have largely evolved from Hammurabi's Code.
Here are a few tidbits from the 3rd Edition of Index Canonum (1892). Canon Law began to be formalized into a Code in 1904 and was finally put into effect in 1917. The Revised Code of Canon Law was released in 1983 and is in effect.

Remember, Martin Luther, considered to be father of the Protestant Reformation BURNED Canon Law, and he did so for a reason. It's the pure root of all fascism. I suspect that the Nazi book burnings prior to World War Two were actually a mockery of Luther's "heretical" acts centuries earlier as Roman Catholic Hitler's (largely) Catholic Administration was bringing Canon Law back into effect in Germany.

These Canon Law topics were published in 1892:

Hmmm... TORTURE is actually a published entry. If they torture their own priests, what do they do to heretics, Muslims, and enemies?

Well, this was 1892, but still...

The deadly sin of Avarice is something to be PROUD of.

Yes, this is older Canon Law, but aside from better tact, little has changed.

Current Canon Law does not allow for free speech, dissent or criticism of the Church. This is VERY dangerous because the Church is not merely a religion that is meant to make people feel better and preserve morality. It is a system of GLOBAL LAW with direct roots to the Babylonian/Egyptian, and Roman Empire system.

The Vatican is not a mere clubhouse full of old men in costumes. It is the headquarters of the world's top courts. It is the headquarters of global law. The Vatican ruled most of Europe and the world up until the Reformation began in the early 1500s.

The Reformation brought freedom to the Western World, but the Vatican and her Jesuits want it back. Be afraid, be very afraid. Or even better: BE AWARE and get busy fixing things.
If you get past the disinformation and the whitewashed history in your search to figure out who's mis-ruling the planet, eventually the subject of the "Illuminati" comes up. Depending on what you happen to read, these people are the mysterious baddies who are running the world into the ground while supposedly doing good works. The most famous Illuminati group, the Bavarian Illuminati was founded by Adam Weishaupt. Get this. Weishaupt was a Professor of CANON LAW, at a Jesuit University in Ingolstadt, Bavaria.

The Jesuits had been suppressed by the Pope at that time, and therefore they had Adam create a Revolutionary movement to carry on their work. So the very matrix of evil from which the Illuminati springs is fascist Canon Law. There are claims that Weishaupt set up a network of his own to "fight" the Jesuits and overthrow the church... but as if they didn't know what he was up to all along.

Incidentally, the AMORC Rosicrucian Movement (which appears to be a front group for the Jesuits) claims to be the Illuminati as stated in their Manual and discourses.

Ultimately, we are not looking for theories and opinions about who is mis-ruling the world. We are looking for the active LAWS that they use. In order to run a Roman Empire, your personnel has to have a rule-book somewhere. The book we are looking for is the Code of Canon Law. Interestingly enough, the Code itself is written in the only international language in the world; Latin. It's the root language of law, and also the language of science. Most of us live by the Roman Calendar.

Yes, ancient Rome fell apart as an OBVIOUS, OVERT miltary force... but instead of giving up... they kept the legal framework and learned to "contract out". It has been much better for the Romans to use Concordat Treaties to rule the provinces and territories of the world in a behind the scenes manner. The people see the politicians and puppets before them, and the real Caesar, the pope conducts the same business as always, rather discreetly.

The wreath on the Index Canonum of 1892 certainly reminds me of the United Nations wreath. The Roman Empire used the same wreath with the letters SPQR - Senatus Populusque Romanus

The Roman Empire as a system of law never ceased.

Hmmm.... if you happen to be a priest, and you have a lapse in that fear of Jews that is expected of you... well, you can be EXCOMMUNICATED. This means, you lose your promises of salvation, your employment, your pension and probably your family and 'friends'. Yes, Canon Law is frightening.

Remember to eat your veggies! Sorry if this is demeaning but I didn't PUBLISH it in a book that came out in at least three editions. Forgive me, but after encountering this one, I became even more frightened of Canon Law than ever.
I think my favorite Canon so far in the 1983 (current) code has to be Can. 1326. I love it! Or fear it. I'm not sure.

Okay. So the Vatican has rules it expects you to follow, and there are of course penalties for breaking them. That much is reasonable. However, if they don't like your attitude and consider it obstinate, they are flat out state (in law) that they can increase the penalty you are subjected to.

Hmmm... "first we burn him, then we hang him, and then we kill him".

Now if you have been baptized, you are subject to these laws. You can quit church, or be excommunicated (kicked out) but the laws still apply to you according to the Vatican.

Interesting little note:

Author James Brundage warns us about the potential treachery of
Canonists especially when doing field research.
First, regarding the claim that they torture their own priests, I'm sure that they do at times, but I think that is referring to their priests being tortured by others. In other words, those who remain loyal to the church while being tortured by others will have all of their privileges restored, including the ability to advance further in the church, such as a St. John of Nepomuk.

Second, there seems to be two different translations of Canon 62, which is the entry about the Jews.

http://books.google.com/books?id=eL42AAA...n#PPA84,M1

This one claims that it requires only converted Jews to not befriend unconverted Jews, so in that sense it is more lenient, but it goes on to say that parties guilty of violation will be punished as such: the unconverted Jews will be sold into slavery, and the converted Jews who violated the Canon will be subject to public scourging, which is presumably a public lashing.

Not sure which is worse. They're both pretty severe.
Hey, thank you for the comments. I should be more measured when approaching these subjects, because there are *always* explanations that surface. It's just hard to stay cool because those of us who try to read about the truthful history get hit with all the hysteria and horrifying content. It's hard to filter what's what sometimes.

I was kind of horrified by the Sister Charlotte testimony that Greg Szymanski ran on one of his shows:
http://www.honesty.org/sister-charlotte-writeup.htm

My appraisal of Canon Law, believe it or not is maturing. AT LEAST IT IS A MORAL CODE. It's dictatorial, but it's better than siding with lawlessness.

I became rather upset with many of the hecklers and trolls on another board and I finally realized the three layers to these subjects.

I see it now as:

1) Voluntary Morality
2) Morality by Law/Rule/Measure (Canon Law, etc)
3) Selfishness

I think we need to follow our conscience and be genuine. Otherwise, law has to maintain order. It's sort of the contrast between "justification by faith alone" versus Canon Law, and opposed to public piggery.

I had been horrified by the abuses of the papacy as well as the dictatorial nature of the system... but at least people fighting for the church have SOME sort of moral code. It's the people who care about *nothing* except hedonism that really create problems.

Well, ultimately we need to cure these problems with education, but seeing that it took me 25 years to figure out what Canon Law was... it's hard to make changes all at once.

I'll try to put more up, especially from the 1892 index. That one is a little strange to say the least.

Canon 1326 ยงยง 1-1,-3 are already practiced in court. This fits in with something I've heard, namely that admiralty, which is what is practiced in courts the world over, & canon law parallel each other.
